Up for the Challenge Conferences

The Yorkshire and Humber Association of Civic Societies (YHACS) recently held two major one-day conferences at the White Hart Hotel in Harrogate's beautiful town centre. The title for the project was "Up for the Challenge," as the focus of each conference was on the challenges facing all civic societies today. These events featured presentations and workshops held by our very own Executive Committee and staff members, with keynote addresses in the morning by English Heritage representatives, and in the afternoon by speakers from the Civic Trust.

The aim of the conference was to build the capacity of our member societies by providing information for part of the day, and spending the other part interacting with one another in workshop format. This was a chance for member society representatives to develop ideas to really help their groups become more effective in its pursuit of its goals.
