Civic TrustCivic Trust
Our parent organisation and the national representative of the civic society movement. Here you will find links to various programs, award schemes and publications.

Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE)
An executive, non-departmental body, CABE is funded by the DCMS and ODPM, shortly to become a statutory body. It advocates quality, sustainable design in the built environment and public realm through its various research and public policy campaigning departments. The CABE site offers a wealth of research, information resources, award schemes and grant opportunities for design quality in the built and public environments.

Sponsored by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), this organisation is the statutory advisor to the Government on the historic environment. It is responsible for protecting England's historic and archaeological past, and as such, maintains historic properties, gives grants for conservation projects and provides education. Here you will find links to information regarding the listing of historic properties, the management of conservation areas, various historic events around the region, programs for grant funding and other relevant information.


Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE)
An organisation that campaigns to influence public policy to protect England's rich countryside. Here you will find research, public opinion data and various publications relating to public policy issues like transport, land use planning, natural resources, and rural economies.

OTHER REGIONAL ASSOCIATIONS OF CIVIC SOCIETIES

Northwest Association of Civic Trusts (NWACTS)
Formed in 2002, NWACTS is an organisation meant "to help individual Trusts and Societies in the north west area (see map) to be heard, to help to create local societies where they do not at present exist, and to coordinate the collective desires of all civic societies in the north west." This site is packed with the latest information on the activities of the region and how to get involved.


Civic Trust Southeast
The Civic Trust Southeast is a further regional association which represents the civic society movement and its members at a regional level. The organisation also organises regular conferences and seminars. Information about the latest news, publications and activities of the Civic Trust Southeast can be found on this highly informative site.


East of England Association of Civic Trust Societies (EEACTS)
The East of England Association of Civic Trust Societies (EEACTS) was formed in March 2000 as the regional presence for civic and amenity societies in the East which provides support to its members. This is a very up-to-date site with all the latest news and information about the EEACTS.


Association of North Thames Amenity Societies (ANTAS)
An organisation of civic and amenity societies across the North Thames region, ANTAS is supported by the Civic Trust and has a membership of 16 groups across Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire. Read more about ANTAS, the latest news from the North Thames region and how to get involved.

The Northern Way
A website for the recent initiative by the three northern regional development agencies and the ODPM for the redevelopment and revitalization of the economy of Northern England. Here you will find links to the Northern Way document and updates on progress.

The "voice of the region", the YHA works with Yorkshire Forward to promote strategies for the improvement of life quality throughout the region, and is the primary planning body. It also scrutinizes Yorkshire Forward and provides support to local authorities through the Yorkshire and Humber Association of Local Authorities.

Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF)
The Heritage Lottery Fund gives grants to support a wide range of projects involving the local, regional and national heritage of the UK. The Fund enables communities to celebrate, look after and learn more about our diverse heritage. Since 1994, the Heritage Lottery Fund has awarded £3 billion to more than 15,000 projects across the UK.

Royal Hall Preservation Trust
With the patronage of the Prince of Wales, the Royal Hall Restoration Trust has been formed to raise the funds needed to complete renovation of the majestic Royal Hall building in Harrogate. Originally conceived as a Kursaal ("Cure Hall") by theatre designer Frank Matcham and his architect, Arthur Beale in 1903, the building is one of the most unique theatre designs of its kind. The Trust has a direct connection to the civic society movement in that our member society Harrogate Civic Society has been involved in this Trust, and its Chair, Lilian Mina, also happens to be the Chair of the Trust.

Beyond Bradford
A site dedicated to connecting the Bradford District to the Beyond Bradford Logoregional, Beyond Bradford offers information about what is happening around the region, including news, events, and links to key regional organisations. This up-to-date and comprehensive site is not just of use to those in the Bradford Metropolitan area, but rather is a fantastic resource for all residents of the Yorkshire and Humber.

This site provides general information on Bradford, from a brief history of the city, to maps, pictures and contact details for accommodation and restaurants, as well as information for the disabled in Bradford.


Saltaire.yorks.com

Related to the City of Bradford.com site, the Saltaire.yorks site provides information on Saltaire in West Yorkshire. The site is good for a first look at Saltaire, with pictures of the town, along with a link to a map and the local tourist information centre. The site also contains some accommodation and restaurant information as well.
