YHACS meets at Fountains Abbey

Fountains Abbey

Andrew Moss, the National Trust Volunteer Coordinator at Fountains Abbey, was the guest speaker at our latest YHACS meeting held on October 12th 2013.

The meeting was held at Fountains Abbey, one of the two World Heritage Sites in our region. David Winpenny, chairman of Ripon Civic Society, welcomed the YHACS members to Fountains Abbey. In his chairman's report, Kevin Trickett drew attention to the Civic Voice campaign on Permitted Development Rights and the issues of change of use, for example, from retail to residential without the need for planning permission. Kevin also recommended the use of social media to societies particularly for contacting younger people. Andrew Moss then gave his presentation on volunteering at Fountains Abbey which was very well received by the audience. For a fuller account of his talk please click here. The meeting concluded with reports from Ripon, Pickering and Skipton Civic Societies.
