Civic Voice and YHACS focus on Assets of Community Value

Posted on 4 May 2014 by Peter Cooper

Our spring 2014 meeting was a joint meeting with the Civic Society Northern Network and Wakefield Civic Society. It was held at Wakefield on the 4th and 5th of April 2014.

On Friday 4th April the President of Wakefield Civic Society hosted a guided walking tour of the city centre. On Saturday 5th April, delegates were given a tour of Wakefield's Theatre Royal. This was followed in the afternoon by lunch and the main meeting at the Grade II* Orangery where the main topic was the opportunity for civic societies presented by the 2011 Localism Act.

Guest speakers included Councillor Peter Box CBE, Leader of Wakefield Council and Freddie Gick, chair of Civic Voice.

The minutes of the meeting can be read in the publications section of the website, click here.
