Over 60 members and guests attended the latest YHACS AGM on Saturday 30th January 2016 at the Cedar Court Hotel at Harrogate.

During the formal business of the meeting, Paul Cartwright of Pontefract Civic Society, was elected to the YHACS committee.

Following the AGM, we heard about the work of Historic England in Yorkshire. Trevor Mitchell, Planning Director for Yorkshire outlined details of the organisation's work and talked about HE's priorities in the region. Trevor was followed by Ian Harvey, Executive Director of Civic Voice, who brought members up to date with the latest developments at CV.

Our final speaker was Kevin Trickett, YHACS chairman. Kevin, who is the YHACS portfolio holder for Strategy and Growth, reviewed what societies can do to engage their local communities and ensure their own survival.

The meeting concluded with the presentation of the YHACS/Peter Spawforth Excellence Awards, won this year by Goole Civic Society.
